Streamlined Trains - The Silver Jubilee
The Silver Jubilee entered service in September 1935 as a 7 car set. . It ran between London (Kings Cross) and Newcastle and regularly exceeded 90mph. It was extended to an 8 car set in February 1938 and the coach numbers changed accordingly - Coach F being the additional Car.
NB - Although the Silver Jubilee was covered in silver rexine at first but this was found to be not durable. After this it was painted in silver paint. This tends not to sit well on a 4mm model. I would advise painting the coaches in a very light grey ( approx RGB 215-215-215). Photographs show the train as white but this was a fault of colour film technology of the time.
