Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway
The Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway came into being in 1847 and covered the area from Manchester in the west as far as Grimsby in the east including Sheffield and Lincoln. An ambitious railway it transformed itself into the Great Central Railway with the expressed intention of creating a London Terminus which it succeeded in so doing at Marylebone..

I don't have a lot of information on the liveries of this railway at the moment; the description in Carter of "bilious green" is not very helpful. I suppose that my best bet would be to assume that the MS&L green was the same as the subsequent GCR green. The illustrated locomotives have a livery that, at best, can be described as "iffy".  Information on this point would be welcome.
