Glasgow & South Western Railway
Although opened in 1840, this important railway did not assume its name until 1850. It eventually became a very important link on the West Coast route to Scotland. The locomotives were a rich dark green colour (approx RGB 38-84-32) with contrasting frames and other features in a claret colour not dissimilar to a Midland Red, perhaps a little darker. Coaching stock was virtually the same as Midland coaches.
