Britannia Class Pacific locomotive - No 70007 Coeur de Lion . The class was introduced in 1951 and didn't last very long. No 70007 only lasted 14 years which is an incredibly short time for a brand new locomotive. Such was the management of British Railways at that time.
They were classified as 7P6F mixed traffic locomotives and, in my view, were "alright" locomotives. Generally they couldn't hold a light to much older locomotives such as the 5P - 7P locomotives from the pre nationalisation era. However, with everything hung on the outside like a Christmas tree, they must have been easy to service.
